Robert trent Jones sr. design

At Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort you will experience a beautiful Robert Trent Jones Sr. design with rolling terrains and fast greens through a peaceful olive groves with only pure nature surrounding the course. The raised greens are protected by well positioned sand bunkers and there are several lakes which require the golfer to think carefully of his club selection.

Beautiful views over the Mediterranean will accompany you throughout your round on our par 72 golf course, which has two completely different nines. The front nine holes are narrow and short, but you must be strategic with your golf shots. The back nine holes are longer, in which you can open your shoulders and let it go.

PLAY IS TO BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE R&A RULES OF GOLF WITH THE FOLLOWING LOCAL RULES

01

STONES IN BUNKERS
Stones in bunkers are removable obstructions.

02

RAKES
Rakes must be left outside bunkers. If a ball comes to rest against a rake that has been left in a bunker, the rake may be removed; should this cause the ball to move, the ball may be replaced without penalty.

03

OUT OF BOUNDS
Beyond all boundary fences, walls or white stakes/posts; on patios, flower beds & car-parks around the clubhouse. Also, the 14th fairway is out of bounds when playing the 15th hole. White stakes/posts may not be removed. Free relief may not be taken from boundary walls/fences.

04

Immovable Obstructions
Include staked trees, artificially surfaced paths (including cart paths), drainage covers, green irrigation system satellite boxes, internal retaining or decorative stone walls including stone surrounds of the lake on holes 14* & 15* and on-course flower beds. If an immovable obstruction interferes with the lie or stance or swing, (but not the line-of-sight), the ball may be dropped without penalty within one club length of the nearest point of relief.
*In the case of the surrounds of the lake on holes 14 & 15, free relief may be taken from the decorative wall – including the slope running down to that wall and the ball may be dropped within one club of the top of the slope not nearer the hole.

05

Designated Drop Zones
On Holes 4, 5, 14 and 15. If a ball enters the penalty area to the right of the fairway, the player must either use the designated drop zone under penalty of one stroke or replay the shot under penalty of stroke and distance. An exception to this rule is on Hole 4 when a ball played from the Men’s tee lands in play before entering the penalty area. In such cases, a drop may be taken under penalty of one stroke, within 2 club lengths of the point of entry, no nearer the hole – provided playing partner(s) agree that the ball first landed in play. If a ball played from the Ladies’ tee on Hole 4 enters the penalty area, the penalty drop should be taken within 2 club lengths of the penalty area behind the fairway bunker.

On Hole 5, the designated drop zone must be used unless the ball is found in the penalty area in a position that would give a clear indication of point of entry – and playing partners agree. There is also a Drop Zone on the 8th hole (at the ladies red log tee). This is to be used for tee shots that enter the penalty area before passing the ladies red-log tee. Beyond that drop zone, to the right of the 8th fairway, a penalty drop may be taken from point of entry into the red penalty.

06

RELIEF WITHOUT PENALTY
(i) Under Winter Rules (ii) Plugged ball in the playing area (iii) Ball coming to rest in a tyre rut or in an area of wild boar damage. In such situations the ball may be lifted, cleaned and dropped without penalty within one club length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole.

07

Distance Measuring Devices
Players may use devices that measure distances. However, devices that measure elevation (slope) or wind speed are not allowed in competitions.

Penalty for breach of rule is disqualification.

08

Penalty for Breach of Local Rule
Unless otherwise stated in a local rule above, penalties for breaches are:
