Ladies Corner – August 2025 News

Dear Ladies,

August has arrived, and it has been hot here in Marbella! With many of you jet-setting to cooler climes, those of us holding down the fort are making the most of our weekly competitions and strategically choosing shady holes whenever possible.

Interclub News: Match Recap

On 28 July, we had the pleasure of hosting Aloha Golf Club at home and what a fantastic day it was! Our ladies played brilliantly, securing an outstanding 7.5 – 1.5 victory. Beyond the great result, we are especially proud of the warm hospitality shown by all our ladies. We looked after our guests with such care and kindness, creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. The Aloha team thoroughly enjoyed their visit and left with big smiles on their faces. A massive well done to Melanie Scholz, Saskia Schoenmakers, Anita Cullen, Chrissie Wills, and Paulette Koper-Stallmann!!!

This same team will be heading to Aloha next year, ready to fight for another victory!

Our next Ladies Interclub challenge is just around the corner: Monday 6 October at Marbella Club Golf Resort. Many ladies have already signed up for this event… team sheet will be up on the board soon!

Golf Rules

When your golf ball lands on a car path and you are entitled to a free drop, you must find the nearest point of complete relief (NPCR) from the path, which is the closest spot where you can stand and swing without interference from the cart path. Then, you drop the ball within one club-length of that point, not nearer the hole. You cannot choose any side of the path; it has to be the nearest point.

This situation came up during our most recent Ladies interclub match. It sparked an interesting discussion about how a particular rule should be applied. One of the ladies had a different interpretation, which led me to think it might be helpful to share it here in our newsletter 🙂

Seasonal Shout-Outs

We miss those who are away and can’t wait to hear your stories from cooler destinations. For all of us here: keep playing, keep laughing, and keep enjoying our little patch of paradise.

P.S. To borrow Monty’s favorite mantra: “Play it smart, distance isn’t everything… but a refreshing sangria sure helps!”

Warmest regards,

Cristina Fernández Romero
