Bob Naify Trophy & President Cup

Over the past two months, we’ve had an exciting and eventful time with two major tournaments taking place. You can see the results on club website and the newsletters, but I would like to stand out the following:

For the Bob Naify Trophy in April, with the course in pristine condition and the club exclusively reserved for members, we had a strong showing from our ladies, and a very special congratulations goes to Edna Graneli who claimed the first place and the Bob Naify trophy. Well done, Edna!

This year’s President Cup in May was a great success, with 48 members and guests enjoying a beautiful day. A big thank you to our President Steve Cullen who did a great job welcoming everyone and presiding over the awards ceremony. On a personal note, I have to admit I was over the moon to win the President’s Cup after a very tight finish decided on count back. Congratulations to all the winners!!!

Golf etiquette & rules

I will be including a little section on golf etiquette and rules in our future newsletters. Golf isn’t just about our own score; it is also about being mindful of everybody else in our flight and showing respects to each other. Hopefully, you will find these tips as interesting as I do and they will come handy for all of us.

Don’t stand in a player’s line of sight: Nothing breaks concentration, quite like having someone loom in your peripheral vision as you are about to take a swing. It is a matter of respect and safety keeping out of a player’s line of sight ensures that their focus remains unbroken and that you are not in harm’s way should the shot go awry. Tip: Position yourself either behind or well ahead of the player but always out of their direct line to the hole. It is a simple act of courtesy that speaks volumes.

On the tee, stand outside the teeing ground when others are hitting. DO NOT stand directly behind the ball, looking down at the fairway watching your friend play. Do not move or talk until after she/he hits.

The exact same rule applies for the greens!

The greens are sacred, and the path a ball takes to the hole is hallowed ground. Walking across someone’s line, especially on the green, can alter the putt’s trajectory by affecting the grass’s lay. Notice where the other players’ balls/markers are, DO NOT walk/stand on the persons intended line to the hole.

The integrity of the game lies in these small acts of consideration.

To conclude, let’s remember what truly makes our club special, the laughter shared on the fairways, the friendships built over competition days and the strength of the beautiful community we have created together. No matter how the game goes, keep showing up with a smile, stay positive and most importantly, keep enjoying every moment out there.

Let’s share more great swings, memories and sunny days!

See you all on the golf course!

Warmest regards,

Cristina Fernandez Romero
