Hello everyone,
I hope you all had a very nice Easter with your families. Here at the club, we enjoyed a great day at our 2026 Bob Naify Tournament on April 3rd. I also personally learned something on the day. I had my maintenance team hand cut and roll the greens and they were rolling 10.1 on the stempmeter. I asked most of the members if they liked the speed of the greens and the majority of you said yes. So now I am going to try to keep the speed of the greens at 10.0 consistently. Hopefully you will make more putts! (you can check out the winners of the competition in the relevant article in this newsletter).
The grass tee on the driving range is now open for the next few months. Antonio, our Head Marshal and I will monitor the wear and tear and move the ropes accordingly. I hope you all enjoy practicing off natural grass.

I am still concentrating on attaining more definition of all our fairways. I am pleased with the progress and hope that once it gets a little warmer and the grass grows more, we will see a marked difference between the fairways and rough. I am also in the process of growing out the aprons around the greens, so that if you miss them, you all will have a good lie for your chip shots. With the greens being faster I must at least give you all good lies!
We have also put in place a chemical plan, which will get rid of the clovers as well as the bad grass around the course. We will spray every three weeks which will eventually eradicate the bad grass. You will notice the difference and also with the height of the fairways as well. In addition, I am slowly allowing the fairways to grow, which in return will make it easy for all of us to hit off of our lies.
We are still working on the bunkers, as we are trying to make the sand easier to hit out of. I am mixing the old sand with the new and trying to find a good consistent texture for you all. Thank you for being patient with me on this.
You will all have seen me more on the golf course driving around as I am spending more time monitoring all that needs to be done to bring it to the level I want.
Satu and Francesc were both away at the end of March on business trips. Satu attended the Golfmessut Golf Fair in Helsinki, just like last year, together with several other golf courses from our area and in conjunction with the Malaga Costa del Sol Tourism Board. Many new contacts were made, and we are seeing more and more Finnish golfers at the club. Francesc attended the Sport & Events Europe conference in Seville together with Higuerón Resort. This was the first MICE event we have attended, and more are to come as we are working hard to increase this business segment.

We now have 217 members with another 61 on the waiting list. I am grateful to you all for supporting Higueron Marbella Golf Resort and we are fully committed to offer you all the best service on the coast. I am also determined to make sure the golf course will only get better and better.
Please don’t forget the Presidents Day Tournament on May 6th. Steve Cullen, our Club President, always puts on a first-class day! Registrations are now open using the Clapphouse app.
During the warmer summer months, we will be organizing two 9-hole Scramble Tournaments with barbecue, and an evening golf event with cocktail dinner. These competitions will be a lot of fun and are sure to be well attended. Hope to see you there!
Don’t forget to check the Restaurant El Olivo section as you will be able to enjoy Jars of Sangría with family and friends this spring. We will also host some classical music nights during the spring months. And check out your emails regularly as we are preparing Jazz music dinners for summer evenings on our Mirador Terrace. There will be a nice ambiance with fine food and wine. (in the events calendar you can see the exact dates of each function).
I would also like to remind you all that during the last week of May (25th to 31st), just like every year, the golf course will be closed for greens’ maintenance. The restaurant will also be closed during this week. However, the driving range and golf shop will remain open, but with limited opening hours. We will notify you all through the app with the exact opening hours in due course. If you will be playing at other golf clubs during the maintenance week, please remember to take your golf sets from the bag rooms by May 24th.
Thank you all and see you around the golf club or on the course.
